Since obtaining my Bachelor’s in Music & Technology degree from Northwestern University in 1987, I’ve worked extensively as both composer and an engineer on a wide variety of album, film, and advertising projects.

My approach to commercial music is to do just what is required to help the storytelling already going on.  The scripts, the casting, the action, the edit - all of these things are already contributing to the story, and music needs to compliment them and make it all come together, and usually without taking things over.

Music libraries and existing pop tunes just can’t take that approach.  Well-crafted original music is the only way.
